Frequently asked questions

What age groups do your programs cater to?

Generally, our programs are designed for kids in grades 2 to 8. This is so we can focus on creating a supportive space during important growth years and set kids up for further education and life.

What are the benefits of participating in TCP Charity programs?

Our programs help kids develop new skills, build confidence, and make lasting friendships. Children leave our programs feeling ready to take on whatever comes next!

How do your mentoring programs work?

Our approach to mentoring involves pairing students with dedicated mentors who provide academic support and emotional guidance throughout the school day. This can involve helping them address reading and math challenges, as well as discussing any emotional struggles they might be dealing with.

What types of activities are included in your programs?

We offer a mix of fun activities like sports, arts, STEM, and building leadership skills. Each one is designed to inspire and engage our participants!

Are your programs safe and supervised?

Yes! Safety is our top priority. All of our programs are supervised by trained mentors who ensure a safe and supportive environment for everyone. Our mentors are CPR certified, trained in Trauma Informed Care, and educated on Adverse Childhood Experiences.

Our Mentor to Participant ratio ranges from 1:5 to 1:7 depending on the program to ensure there are eyes on every students.

How can I register my child for a program?

There are two ways for your child to participate in our school-based programs.

  1. To participate in our school-based programs, your child must attend the schools we work in.
  2. Your child will be selected by their school teachers and/or administrators, and TCP mentors to participate in the program. They will be sent home with a permission slip to participate.

Of course! Each of our programs offers something different, and, if time constraints and capacity aren’t an issue, we’re open to discussing enrollment in more than one program.

How much of TCP donations go towads programming?

Great question! Each year our goal is to use 80% or more of donations on programs. Check out our Annual Report & Financials page to see exactly how far your generous contributions can go!

What past students, schools & parents are saying

Hear just some of the success stories from children we’ve worked with in areas like Brooklyn Park and Glen Burnie.

“It is such a pleasure having TCP mentors in the building. Not only are they supporting TCP program students, but they are supporting our entire classroom of students. We have seen great improvement in students’ participation and attitudes in class, along with an increase in the number of students who complete their work during class.

On top of that, they are assisting our teachers, which has been a huge blessing for us, seeing that we are having trouble finding enough support staff for the teachers. The TCP program is in such demand now by students that we have a waiting list of over 20 kids.”
