A youth mentoring program that goes beyond the classroom.

We provide mentors for 2nd-5th grade elementary school children during the school day, offering academic and emotional support both in class and during lunch.

Supporting social & academic success from every angle.

By providing one-on-one emotional and academic mentoring to children in underserved communities, we give them the tools they need to believe in themselves, tackle academic and emotional challenges head-on, and reach their full potential in school and life.

Our Academic & Emotional Mentoring program isn’t just about in-class assistance—it’s about building a foundation of confidence, emotional strength, and the belief that success is possible for everyone. We know kids face obstacles in and outside the classroom, and we’re here to guide them through it all!

Academic Mentoring

From tackling math and reading challenges to addressing time management, our mentors help students see that sometimes, the only thing standing in their way is themselves.

Emotional Guidance

Through consistent check-ins, our mentors help kids understand their feelings and perceived challenges. This emotional grounding helps them stay focused and feel supported every step of the way.

Benefits that go beyond better grades.

In Northern Anne Arundel County, kids face real struggles—poverty, homelessness, food insecurity—and it shows in the classroom. Less than 23% of 5th graders here are proficient in math, and under 40% in English. These numbers aren’t just statistics; they’re a call for help.

Our mentors answer that call. We step in during math and reading classes and provide extra support during lunch. But it’s not just about academics—we’re here to listen, guide, and give these kids the emotional support they need to keep going. Because when they feel supported, they can thrive.

Confidence Boost

With our one-on-one support, kids learn to believe in their abilities, both academically and emotionally.

Better Academic Outcomes

Kids gain the study skills and problem-solving techniques they need to not only do better in school, but to want to do better in school.

Emotional Strength

Through emotional mentoring, children learn how to handle stress, build resilience, and feel supported through life’s ups and downs.

Success stories that speak for themselves.

Don’t just take our word for it. Hear from the kids, schools, and families we’ve worked with to see the difference our youth programs have made.

My son, David, has been in this program for the past two and a half years. It was suggested by his school counselors that he participate due to his ADHD.

The TCP program has been great for him, providing a sense of community and showing him that people care about him rather than making fun of him for being a little different. He eagerly looks forward to every session and is determined not to miss it. David has shown remarkable progress in working through difficult scenarios that may be awkward for him but are more straightforward for others.

When I grow up, I want to be a TCP mentor just like Ms. Jess.

Being able to talk to someone I trust who is not a counselor when I am struggling or having an emotional day has helped me a lot!

When I get to talk to a TCP Mentor I feel so relieved. I actually feel like I am able and ready to learn after talking with Mr. Mark.
