Empowering Group Leader (Internship or Volunteer)


            An Empowering Group Leader works with a small group of middle or high school students (4-6 students) in the development of the groups business plan and presentation. In this position, you will be responsible for providing students with guidance, advice and strategies in the accumulation of data, leading students to developing the best business plan presentation possible.  You may also be responsible for leading the class of students in a discussion on a specific business topic. 



  1. Commit to attending all sessions: 2x per week for 12 weeks plus the business plan presentation at the end of the program. (Roughly 30 hours total)

  2. Have reliable transportation and ability to get to and from the program’s location 

    • MacArthur Middle School on Ft. Meade (Wed & Thurs from 3:45-5pm)

    • Brooklyn Park Middle School in Brooklyn Park (Mon & Tues from 2:50-4pm)

  3. Come prepared each day with any ideas and materials needed for the students

  4. Ability and willingness to communicate with students during non-program hours, if necessary


Ideal candidates must possess a passion for giving back and desire to help others reach goals, a basic to advanced understanding of business fundamentals, proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, a positive attitude, ability to work well with others and open-mindedness approach to teamwork. 

Interns must be sophomore's or older and currently enrolled in or have finished a business fundamentals course. Interns must possess a GPA of 3.0 or greater and must provide a letter of recommendation from a teacher/professor. 

Guest Speaker (Volunteer)


            Share your experiences and background in business with our students and shed light on what it takes to become a successful employee or business owner. Your insight and experiences help our students gain knowledge from a variety of business industries and roles and help them identify opportunities for them to pursue based on their skills, desires and interests.

3. Personal Finance (Banking)

4. Product/Program Development

5. Entrepreneurs/Business Owners

6. Trades (Electrical, HVAC, Elevator, Plumbing, Industrial)

7. Engineering

8. Technology/IT/Software Development
