What A Remarkable 2 Months for TCP Charity!

We couldn’t have asked for a better two-month stretch than the one we just had. Those of you who follow TCP regularly know about all the great things that have happened over the last 60 days.

TCP Shark Tank

First, March brought us two sensational evenings of student business plan presentations as our Young Leaders cohorts from Brooklyn Park and Marley Middle Schools showcased their community project ideas in the TCP Shark Tank. Each cohort presented presentations in front of 40+ people and a panel of 5+ business professionals.

Student Projects in Action

To close out March, our students brought their projects to fruition. Our students and a group of TCP partners and volunteers came together to build conservation gardens at Marley Middle and Park Elementary; stuff 400 care packages for local homeless adults; 60 care packages for local homeless and less fortunate adolescents; conducted a litter pick up around the Brooklyn Park Library and Park Elementary; and conducted a bake sale to raise money for art supplies and activities for adolescent cancer patients.

Field Trips

With Spring Break being the first week of April, it kicked off the month by taking a group of TCP Young Leaders on a team-building field trip to Mission Escape and a mental health and substance abuse training so they can turn around and educate TCP Leaders in STEAM Summer campers this July on these two essential topics. We also took some of our Brooklyn Park Elementary kids to Annapolis and Davidsonville, where they got to bake their RoosTarts at Iron Rooster and learn about bees and pollination at Homestead Gardens

Annual Spring Gala

Next, we had the 2nd Annual TCP Spring Gala. UNBELIEVABLE!

This year’s Gala blew last year’s out of the water and set a new standard for future TCP Galas. The venue and food at Blackwall Barn & Lodge were top-notch, and TCP students KILLED IT! From Vicktor cracking jokes about our Executive Director to Saul’s (a 5th grader) vibrant energy and emotional testimonial, TCP students had the audience on the edge of their seats applauding and tearing up all night.

The efforts of TCP Board Member Jessica Gilbert and her Gala Committee resulted in the 2nd Annual Spring Gala raising just over $28,500. We owe a huge Thank You to our Diamond Sponsor – M&T Bank, and our Platinum Sponsor – Development Facilitators Inc. Annual Don Nippard Birdie Ball Masters

If that wasn’t enough, we ended the month of April by participating in and being the beneficiary of the 3rd Annual Don Nippard Birdie Ball Masters. In memory of one of our Founding Board Members, Don Nippard, this tournament raised over $10,000 this year for TCP Charity. In fashion with what we do at TCP, we pushed one of our 7th grade Young Leader participants, Katelyn, way out of her comfort zone by having her give a testimonial to the players before tee-off.

Continue to follow us on social media to see how we close out the remainder of Spring with our Sports & STEM programs.
