Fall is Officially Here
TCP’s programs are in full swing, meaning we are well underway with the Fall season, although the current weather leads us to believe it’s still summertime.
The school year’s first quarter is ending next week, which excites us. With the quarter ending, we will have some baseline data for TCP kids, allowing us to sit down with our kids to set 2nd quarter goals for them to pursue. It also allows our kids to reflect on the first quarter and celebrate their successes.
Exciting News and a Powerful Challenge!
We are thrilled to share some inspiring news that will significantly transform TCP Charity’s ability to serve and empower more youth!
TCP Charity has been awarded a generous transformational matching gift of up to $100,000 from the Deerbrook Fund. This incredible support enables us to grow in ways that will have a lasting impact on the communities we serve and significantly enhance the sustainability of our programs.
But here’s the challenge – Deerbrook will match 2:1 for every new dollar raised, and by achieving this, it will unlock $100,000/yr for the following two years.
This is where we need your help!
Together, we can take advantage of this fantastic opportunity!
To get us off to a hot start toward accomplishing this challenge together, we need you now more than ever to consider
- Becoming a monthly donor – A monthly contribution of $10, $25, $50, or $100 provides consistent support, allowing us to plan, grow, and meet more young people’s needs.
- Making a yearly gift – A one-time gift today will help unlock the full potential of this astonishing grant or
- Increasing your current giving—If you’re already a monthly donor, consider increasing your monthly gift by $5, $10, or $20. If you’ve already contributed this year, consider making a second contribution at the same amount.
Through this grant and by accomplishing this challenge, we can enhance our fundraising effort and grow sustainably by hiring an Executive Assistant and/or Director of Development, increase our capacity by hiring more employees (Mentors), meaning more youth are served per year, and purchase an additional vehicle to support our growth.
Make your gift by mailing a check to The Complete Player Charity, 640 Ravenwood Dr, Glen Burnie, MD 21060, or click here to become a monthly donor, increase your monthly gift, or make a yearly donation.
Your investment today demonstrates your belief in the power of education and mentorship and ensures that more young lives are positively transformed through TCP programs.
Program Updates
TCP Young Leaders
With Fall here, our Young Leaders program is off and running at Brooklyn Park Middle. This year, 11 participants are taking on the challenge of keeping the litter clean-up initiative alive for a third year and blowing it up. For the next eight months, these 11 students will start a social entrepreneurial effort to expand on the work last year’s UYoung Leaders cohort initiated.
Their responsibility will be to conduct two monthly litter clean-ups, deliver workshops to local elementary school students on the impact of litter on the environment, and hold a community event or two demonstrating their work and educating the community on how they can help keep Brooklyn Park litter-free. Stay tuned for volunteer opportunities!
TCP Academic & Emotional Mentoring
As you see from the photo above, our staff has grown, which means our programs are also. This school year, we have the pleasure of serving upwards of 80 3rd-5th graders at Brooklyn Park and Woodside combined. We have increased the number of youth served through this program by hiring two new Mentors – Toby and Jennifer – through the Maryland Service Year program.
The program’s kids are off to a hot start, showing improvements already. With fresh academic data coming in two weeks, we are eager to see how much more they improve over the school year.
TCP Sports & STEM
New for this school year, we will be running three program sessions for 10 weeks each. This will give more students at the schools an opportunity to participate. The waiting list was so long last year that we had to make a change. This Fall, the program is serving 44 kids, and along with sports and math, participants will explore coding and nutrition and participate in some community service activities.
