5th Annual Golf Tournament a SUCCESS!

This year’s golf tournament planning and execution differed from the last four years. With TCP providing summer camps for five straight weeks this past summer, planning time for this year’s event was very limited. If you throw in the way the economy has been shaping into and the supply chain issues across the globe, we were unsure if the items we ordered would be here in time and how many golfers and sponsors would support this year’s event.

As we approached the middle of July, it looked like this year was going to be a down year for us. Sponsor numbers were stalling, and more and more people were saying, “there are just so many tournaments this Fall it’s hard to choose which ones to play in,” so it was no wonder that golfer numbers were down.

Now pertaining to the weather, which good weather is vital for golf tournaments. For a full week leading up to the tournament, the weather forecast showed rain and clouds on September 12th. With a projected .45 inches of rain and a 63% chance of rain, we assumed it was going to be a wet day and a day we couldn’t wait to get done with. After four straight years of great weather, it was only a matter of time before we would run into some rain.

Then September 12th came….

What started off as a very wet morning and emails flying in asking if the tournament was still on, we headed to the course, not knowing what to expect.

By 9:15 am, we were all shocked! Golf participants trickled in, and out of 116 registered golfers, 107 showed up to play, which was 35 more than we had registered in mid-July. When all was said and done, and after golfers stuffed their mouths with delicious food from Oscar’s Alehouse, our 5th Annual TCP Golf Tournament netted $28,850!!

Yes, I repeat. We are truly grateful and humbled to say that the 5th Annual TCP Golf Tournament netted $28,850!

Thank you to all the businesses that sponsored our tournament and the players who registered and played. The outcome from this year’s tournament will enable us to increase our organizational capacity, which will result in our ability to significantly increase the number of youth we can serve living in Glen Burnie and Brooklyn Park.

A special THANK YOU to our Platinum Sponsor:
